Three simple ways to help the right OT find your job ad

Over the years I have read a great many job ads, and the ones that attract good applicants usually have a few things in common. None of them take long to get right, and each one makes it easier for an occupational therapist to decide whether your role is worth applying for.

  • Use a clear, searchable job title. Therapists search for titles like “Paediatric Occupational Therapist” or “Senior OT, Mental Health”. A creative title might stand out to you, but it is much harder for a candidate to find.
  • Put the location and work arrangement near the top. Before anything else, most applicants want to know where the role is based and whether it is on-site, hybrid or remote. When that information is easy to find, the people who apply are more likely to be a good fit.
  • Describe a typical week. A few sentences about caseload, settings and the team the therapist will work with give a far better picture than a list of duties alone.

Small improvements like these can make a real difference to the quality of the applications you receive. If you would like a second pair of eyes on your next ad, I am always happy to help.
