About the Position:

Flinders University is seeking a Field Education Coordinator (Occupational Therapy) to support the delivery of the National Mental Health Pathways to Practice Pilot. This initiative aims to strengthen Australia's mental health workforce by attracting and retaining allied health professionals through high-quality, supervised placement opportunities across metropolitan and non-metropolitan settings.

Working collaboratively with health services, community agencies and industry partners, you will coordinate student placements, provide professional supervision, and help build sustainable supervision capacity that enhances the student experience and supports future workforce growth in the mental health sector.

In this position, you will:

• Develop and maintain partnerships with mental health agencies and services to create and coordinate high-quality Occupational Therapy placement opportunities.
• Provide professional supervision, mentoring and support to Occupational Therapy students undertaking placements across diverse mental health settings.
• Build supervision capability within partner organisations by delivering capacity-building initiatives and supporting sustainable supervision models.
• Contribute to innovative approaches that enhance placement experiences and strengthen pathways into the mental health workforce.

About You

You are an experienced Occupational Therapist with a passion for mental health, student learning, and workforce development. You enjoy building relationships across diverse settings and are committed to creating meaningful placement experiences that prepare students for rewarding careers in mental health. You bring a collaborative and adaptable approach, with the ability to engage stakeholders, provide professional supervision, and contribute to initiatives that support the future sustainability of the allied health workforce.

You will demonstrate:

• A tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy, current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and eligibility for membership with Occupational Therapy Australia.
• Demonstrated experience working within the mental health sector.
• Experience in student supervision, professional education, or placement coordination within Occupational Therapy.
• Accreditation as a Mental Health Practitioner (desirable).

• Flinders University will require a current completed Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and Gender Based Violence Declaration which is satisfactory to the University. The contract of Employment is conditional upon the receipt of these completed compliance checks. A disclosable outcome will not automatically disqualify a candidate from consideration. • In addition, it is a requirement of this position that the incumbent maintain a current Working With Children Check which is satisfactory to the University in accordance with the Child Safety (Prohibited Persons) Act 2016 (SA).
