If you already have lymphoedema experience, fantastic. We would love to hear about your skills, experience and where you would like your career to go next. But we are also very open to hearing from OTs who don't yet have lymphoedema experience. Perhaps you've been working in another area of allied health and are ready to develop a new clinical specialty. Maybe you've come across lymphoedema or cancer rehabilitation during your career and thought, I'd actually really like to know more about that. For the right person, we can provide training, mentoring and support to help you develop your skills and confidence in this area. What matters to us is that you have good foundations as a therapist, genuinely care about your clients, are willing to learn, and want to build your clinical skills for the long term.

​So, what does a lymphoedema therapist actually do?

This is a hands-on clinical role working with people who may have primary or secondary lymphoedema, including people who are recovering from or living with the effects of cancer and cancer treatment. You'll assess, problem solve, educate and work alongside your clients to help manage swelling and symptoms and support them to get back to the things that matter to them. You'll develop specialised skills in lymphoedema assessment and treatment and work with other health professionals and referrers as part of your clients' broader care. There is plenty to learn, which is exactly why we love this area. The work is practical, interesting and incredibly meaningful.
