A rare opportunity to join a highly regarded autism-specific early intervention environment Be Recruitment is proud to be partnering exclusively with SDN Children’s Services to recruit an experienced Occupational Therapist to join their Children’s Therapies team in Rooty Hill.

This is a wonderful opportunity for an Occupational Therapist who is passionate or interested in developing further in paediatric early intervention and wants to work in a supportive, values-led not-for-profit environment where children and families are genuinely at the centre of practice.

Based in Rooty Hill, this role is connected to SDN’s specialist early childhood and therapy environment, including SDN Beranga Autism Specific Preschool — a purpose-built autism-specific preschool and early intervention setting for children aged 3 years to school age with a diagnosis of autism.

This is not a general childcare setting. SDN Beranga combines early childhood education, autism-specific preschool programming, early childhood intervention and children’s therapies. Children can access additional therapy through onsite therapists, with therapists working closely with educators so that therapy is embedded in the places children live, learn and play.

This connection creates a rich and meaningful environment for an Occupational Therapist who wants to work collaboratively with children, families, educators and other practitioners to support developmental outcomes, participation, communication, regulation, independence and transition to school.

You will be joining a small, well-established interdisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, strengths-based and family-centred occupational therapy services to children aged 0–16 years with developmental delay and disability.

Why this role? This is not a high-volume, unsupported therapy role. You will have the opportunity to work thoughtfully with children and families, supported by a clear clinical framework, paid supervision and a team that is committed to quality outcomes.

Benefits include:

  • Permanent part-time role, ideally 3 days per week
  • Flexibility with days but ideally would be Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday
  • Rooty Hill location with minimal travel
  • Occasional future flexibility for hybrid work to complete documentation and case notes
  • Salary packaging through a respected not-for-profit organisation
  • Paid external clinical supervision
  • Regular internal clinical supervision
  • Structured induction and onboarding
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Supportive interdisciplinary team
  • Discounted SDN childcare
  • Opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and families
About the role As an Occupational Therapist, you will work closely with children, parents and carers to understand each child’s strengths, needs and goals. You will deliver play-based, family-centred and evidence-informed therapy that supports children’s development, participation and inclusion across home, early learning, school and community settings.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Delivering occupational therapy services to children aged 0–16 years
  • Providing strengths-based, family-centred and play-based intervention
  • Working collaboratively with families to set meaningful and achievable therapy goals
  • Completing assessments, intervention plans, case notes and reports
  • Supporting children with developmental delay and disability
  • Working as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Contributing to clinical discussions, supervision and service development
  • Supporting families to build confidence, capacity and connection with relevant services
The role is primarily based onsite in Rooty Hill and is predominantly office and client-facing. Approximately 65% of the role involves direct face-to-face work with children and families, with the remaining time focused on assessment, planning, documentation and team collaboration.

About you

You will be an Occupational Therapist who brings warmth, clinical skill and a genuine commitment to working with children and families.

You will ideally have:
  • Current AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist
  • Some experience working with children, ideally across paediatric early intervention, disability or community-based services
  • A strong understanding of developmental delay and disability
  • Experience using family-centred, strengths-based and play-based approaches
  • Confidence working both independently and as part of a small interdisciplinary team
  • Strong communication, documentation and relationship-building skills
  • An understanding of the NDIS environment
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current driver’s licence and access to a vehicle, ideally
Occupational Therapists with approximately 2 + years’ experience are encouraged to apply. More experienced clinicians looking for a flexible, values-aligned role are also very welcome.
